Two heads are better than one

It is refreshing to hear good news for the independent shop keeper when so many local shops are closing due to the high overheads. Two businesses have combined to share the expenses associated with the running of a shop – all the normal overheads – rent, rates, electricity, telephone and even advertising costs are halved by this innovative idea by two businesswoman, this may be the way forward in a climate of ever spiralling costs.

CRYSTAL THREADS in Elmstead Market, on the A133 Clacton Road, is an amalgamation of two established businesses IGIGI2U and EMBROIDERY BY DESIGN that have joined together to bring an exciting new gift experience, with ample free parking, and relaxing shopping. Why not drop in for a browse or maybe just watch embroidery being carried out on our machines in the workshop, whilst enjoying a coffee and biscuit with our compliments.

Jan has run a retail business for the past 15 years. IGIGI2U is a one stop shop selling a comprehensive range of high quality alternative lifestyle, gifts for all ages and at all prices, from aromatherapy, tumble stones and crystals to tarot, angel cards incense, natural health and craft product a large variety of herbs and resins, plus books on a variety of subjects. Also available will be a range of relaxing music, directions hair dyes, fantasy figures Tree Free gift cards and bags. Hence the CRYSTAL

EMBROIDERY BY DESIGN

Jan, also, has run a successful manufacturing business for the past 9 years. She has been based in Eight Ash Green for the past 3 years. She sells a selected range of sewing and embroidery sundries including luxurious silky threads. She offers a low cost embroidery and digitizing service for clubs, corporate promotions, monograms on T shirts etc., No job is too small, use your logo or one can be designed for you. Jan also manufactures and embroiders a range of pouches and bags personalized for corporate gifts, wedding favours or simply one offs, in a range of luxury fabrics, also an exclusive collection of hand and shoulder bags. Hence the THREADS

The two Jan’s have been friends for many years and are combining their experiences into the development of Crystal Threads. Their first new venture will be a specialist alteration service for men, women and children’s clothes. Having seen the need for out of town shopping, with the ever increasing cost of parking charges and increasing traffic congestion, the obvious answer was to find an out of town premises , in doing so they will be able to offer their products at competitive prices due to their idea of sharing costs.
